midfloat – Mixing onecolumn and twocolumn modes at any place of page

Provides an environment \begin{strip} <inserted matter> \end{strip} which inserts its body as a full-width box on a twocolumn page. The package can give problems with floats and footnotes; footnotes can sorted using commands \footnotemark/\footnotetext.
