ital – Automatic italic correction
The package defines commands \ital and \slant that provide the requisite italic correction at the end of their argument, and the command \upright that provides italic correction in front of its argument as necessary. A command \emph is also provided, choosing between \ital and \upright according to the state of the surrounding text.
These facilities are (of course) provided in LaTeX 2e, with different names as part of the distribution.
