Summary description: Localisation support for TeX and LaTeX documents
Announcement text:
This package uses both tracklang and texosquery to look up the locale information from the operating system and provide commands that can access locale-dependent infor- mation, such as the currency symbol and decimal separator. The file tex-locale.tex provides generic TeX code. The LaTeX package tex-locale.sty can additionally load babel or polyglossia with the locale's language setting, as well as various other packages such as fontspec (XeLaTeX/LuaLaTeX) or fontenc + inputenc (PDFLaTeX). LaTeX example: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{tex-locale} \begin{document} Today: \CurrentLocaleShortDate. Currency: \CurrentLocaleCurrency. \end{document} TeX example: \input tex-locale Today: \CurrentLocaleShortDate. Currency: \CurrentLocaleCurrency. \bye Note that texosquery requires the Java Runtime Environment. See the texosquery documentation for setup instructions. If you can't use TeX's piped shell escape, see the tex-locale documentation for an alternative method.
The package’s Catalogue entry can be viewed at https://ctan.org/pkg/tex-locale The package’s files themselves can be inspected at http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/generic/tex-locale/
