This xetex.def supports a new option [pagebox=artbox, etc.] in PDF inclusion, like that in pdflatex, in xelatex. It requires new xetex and xdvipdfmx, which will be available in TeX Live 2016. Interested users may build new xetex and xdvipdfmx by using new sources in the TeX Live repository. If the new option is not used, the xetex.def is compatible with binaries in TeX Live 2015.

xetex-def – Colour and graphics support for XeTeX
The file xetex.def provides device-specific definitions for colour and graphics support when running Xe(La)TeX.
It is now distributed as part of the graphics-def bundle.
