Joachim Breitner submitted the
conteq
package.
Summary description: Automated layout of an continued equality
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
This package allows you to write an continued equality such as \begin{conteq} e^{\pi\cdot i} \\ = -1 & Euler's formula \\ < 0 & this is an inequality \\ < \sqrt 3 \\ = \int e^{-x^2} dx & this is due to Gauss. \end{conteq} in a declarative manner and easily switch between various layouts afterwards. It is implemented using LaTeX3 features.
This package is located at http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/conteq . More information is at http://www.ctan.org/pkg/conteq (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear). We are supported by the TeX Users Group http://www.tug.org . Please join a users group; see http://www.tug.org/usergroups.html .

conteq – Typeset multiline continued equalities
The package provides an environment conteq, which will lay out systems of continued equalities (or inequalities).
Several variant layouts of the equalities are provided, and the user may define their own.
The package is written using LaTeX 3 macros.
