Summary description: Name authority mechanism for consistency in body text and index
Announcement text:
I am pleased to announce the release of nameauth 3.0. This extensive redesign of the package brings greater simplicity, compactness, and power. Notable feature additions include: * Alternate names are available for both Western names and comma-delimited non-Western names. * The index macros generate both `see' and `see also' types of references. More can be done in terms of index management. * Writing custom name format hooks has been simplified greatly. * In most cases, the package remains backward-compatible with earlier versions through the use of package options. The modular redesign of the package has reduced its size by over 100 lines even after adding features. Distinct paths exist for printing names in the text, putting page entries in the index, and putting cross-references into the index.
The package's Catalogue entry can be viewed at http://www.ctan.org/pkg/nameauth The package's files themselves can be inspected at http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/nameauth/
Thanks for the upload. For the CTAN Team Petra RĂ¼be-Pugliese

nameauth – Name authority mechanism for consistency in body text and index
Publications, that reference many names, require editors and proofreaders to track those names in the text and index. The package offers name authority macros that allow authors and compilers to normalize occurrences of names, variant name forms, and pen names in the text and index. This may help minimize writing and production time and cost.
