CTAN has a new package: staves

On Tue, 7 Nov 2006, Apostolos Syropoulos submitted a new package called
staves
to CTAN.
It contains all the necessary tools to typeset the ``magical'' Icelandic
staves plus the runic letters used in Iceland.

staves – Typeset Icelandic staves and runic letters
This package contains all the necessary tools to typeset the “magical” Icelandic staves plus the runic letters used in Iceland.
Included are a font in Adobe Type 1 format and LaTeX support.
