Name of contribution: IEEEconf
Author's name: Scott Pakin
Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/IEEEconf
Summary description: Class file for IEEE Computer Society conference proceedings
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
The IEEEconf class implements the formatting dictated by the IEEE Computer Society Press for conference proceedings (ftp://pubftp.computer.org/press/outgoing/proceedings/instruct8.5x11.pdf). IEEEconf.cls replaces latex8.sty and is compatible with any BibTeX style, not just latex8.bst. The goal was to produce a more faithful implementation of the formatting rules and to do so with cleaner LaTeX code than that provided by the latex8.* files. Version 1.4 of IEEEconf.cls includes a few changes to better match the IEEE Computer Society Press's latest formatting requirements, a "latex8" class option that retains latex8.sty's incorrect but more space-efficient title formatting, and support for the "onecolumn" class option in case an author wants to use the multicolumn package along with the IEEEconf class. Thanks to Oliver Kopp for proposing "latex8" and "onecolumn" support and for helping with testing.
