Date: March 6, 2006 9:45:40 AM CET
The package described below has been updated at tug.ctan.org and should soon appear at your favorite mirror. Thanks again, Jim Hefferon St Michael's College ====================================================================== The following information was provided by the package's contributor. Name of contribution: TengwarScript Author's name: Ignacio Fernndez Galvn Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/tengwarscript Summary description: A package for writing tengwar with LaTeX License type: lppl Announcement text given by the package's contributor:
Update text: In version 1.2 I've created ENC files and virtual fonts, so that now the original TTF font files can be used, at least with pdflatex, and characters from "alt" fonts are available. There are also some changes in the s-hooks, and roman punctation as well as some alternate tengwar shapes. Description text: The TengwarScript package provides a mid-level access to tengwar fonts while still generating good output by default. Each tengwar sign has an individual command, which should place the sign nicely with relation to the preceding signs. So, to write the word "quetta" in Quenya mode one would write: \Tquesse\TTacute\Ttinco\TTdoubler\TTthreedots TengwarScript supports several free tengwar fonts, including Dan Smith's fonts, Tengwar Parmaite, Tengwar Annatar and others. The full set of supported fonts can be found in the manual and in the sample "tengfonts.pdf" file.

TengwarScript – support for using Tengwar fonts

The package provides “mid-level” access to tengwar fonts, providing good quality output. Each tengwar sign is represented by a command, which will place the sign nicely in relation to previous signs.

A transcription package is available from the package’s home page: writing all those tengwar commands would quickly become untenable.

The package supports the use of a wide variety of tengwar fonts that are available from the net; metric and map files are provided for all the supported fonts.
