CTAN package update and changes to: epsf

The well-known epsf macros have been updated on tug.ctan.org, and these
changes should soon appear at your favorite mirror.
Please note the change of location. The material has moved
from the single file /macros/plain/contrib/misc/epsf.tex to
the directory /macros/generic/epsf , where it has been expended to
include multiple files.

This update to epsf.tex fixes a bug when \epsfbox is used in the LaTeX {center} environment. General information: The epsf.tex and epsf.sty (identical) files provide for low-level typesetting of Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) files, with optional suppression of the figure contents (for faster display and printing during document development), optional figure framing, and optional figure labeling. LaTeX users are cautioned that the graphicx package documented in the LaTeX Graphics Companion and LaTeX Companion (2nd ed.) books provides a much more powerful and general facility, and allows easy switching between pdf(la)tex and (la)tex without document modification. Plain TeX and AmSTeX users, however, may find epsf.tex useful. The original location for these macros is http://www.math.utah.edu/pub/tex/epsf/. They are maintained by Nelson Beebe.

epsf – Simple macros for EPS inclusion
The original (and now obsolescent) graphics inclusion macros for use with dvips, still widely used by Plain TeX users (in particular).
For LaTeX users, the package is nowadays (rather strongly) deprecated in favour of the more sophisticated standard LaTeX latex-graphics bundle of packages.
(The latex-graphics bundle is also available to Plain TeX users, via its Plain TeX version.)
