We provide a new metapost operator 'mpliboutlinetext', which mimicks metafun's 'outlinetext'. The syntax is the same as metafun's. A simple example: draw mpliboutlinetext.b ("$\sqrt{2+\alpha}$") (withcolor \mpcolor{red!50}) (withpen pencircle scaled .2 withcolor red) scaled 2 ;

luamplib – Use LuaTeX’s built-in METAPOST interpreter
The package enables the user to specify METAPOST diagrams (which may include colour specifications from the color or xcolor packages) into a document, using LuaTeX’s built-in METAPOST library.
The facility is only available in PDF mode.
