Date: November 16, 2005 2:04:40 PM CET
On Wed, 16 Nov 2005, Till Tantau submitted an update to the
pgf
package.
PGF is a macro package for creating graphics directly in TeX and LaTeX.
Its usage is similar to pstricks and the standard picture environment.
Unlike pstricks, it produces both PostScript and PDF output and works
together with latex, dvips, pdftex, and pdflatex. PGF is used extensively
with beamer for production of presentations.
This version is a bugfix version.
Version 1.01 of pgf/TikZ:
- Added textures support.
- Added text opacity option.
- Fixed bug in pgfbasesnakes.code.tex causing lot's of
'missing = in nullfont' message in log file.
- Fixed bug that made plain tex mode unusable.
- Fixed missing pgfsys-vtex.def in FILES.
- Fixed wrong box placements in compatibility mode.
- Fixed SVG support to create legal xml.
- Moved documentation to doc/generic/pgf.
Thanks for the update.

pgf – Create PostScript and PDF graphics in TeX
PGF is a macro package for creating graphics. It is platform- and format-independent and works together with the most important TeX backend drivers, including pdfTeX and dvips. It comes with a user-friendly syntax layer called TikZ.
Its usage is similar to pstricks and the standard picture environment. PGF works with plain (pdf-)TeX, (pdf-)LaTeX, and ConTeXt. Unlike pstricks, it can produce either PostScript or PDF output.
